Flat and Low Slope Roofing

TPO stands for thermoplastic polyolefin. It is a reinforced roofing membrane commonly used on flat and low-slope roofs. It offers a practical balance of cost, durability, and resistance to heat and ultraviolet exposure. TPO gets its flexibility without added plasticizers.
PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride. It is also a reinforced roofing membrane, but its formulation includes plasticizers that provide flexibility. PVC generally offers greater resistance to certain chemicals, oils, and grease—an advantage where those exposures are a concern.
Both systems use hot-air-welded seams and are available in reflective colors and different thicknesses. Either can be a good residential roofing option. The best choice depends on the specific product, roof conditions, budget, and warranty options. Proper installation, flashing, and drainage are essential with either system.
